Places To Go

A short drive away are the quiet and bustling Beaches of the South East Coast, picturesque and cafe-filled Historic Towns, Local Ventures to sightsee and Where Next will set you on your next excursion once you have filled your day!


Beaches

Plenty of British South East Coastlines to venture to... the nearby bustling seaside town of Hastings or busy Camber Sands, alternatively head to the quieter Winchelsea or Bexhill

 

Staying in the woods, but a 20 minute drive from us are the Sussex Coast beaches, so you can set off early and be there before the crowds and make the best of both worlds!

 

Hastings

Camber Sands

  • Camber Sands has the beautiful sandy beaches and seasonal beachside eateries and fun activities

  • A perfect beach day in the summer sunbathing and swimming or walking along the infamous sand dunes... sandcastles a plenty whatever the Season!

  • Take in Camber Castle before or after your beach day 


Winchelsea

  • ​​Winchelsea Beach is quieter with not much more than Winchelsea Beach cafe and a little further up, Eaters@Pett

  • Perfect for rock-pooling and with easy parking you can set off on your own paddle-board or canoe and take idyllic walks or cycle (hire an e-bike from Rye Bay Ebikes) along the shoreline of the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve and see the large variety of coastal wildlife and plants, not forgetting the stunning views of beach and countryside along the way

  • Grab a cuppa and a slice of cake at the Rye Nature Reserve Discovery Centre and take in some history of the Pillboxes and Martello Tower along the way

Bexhill

  • Bexhill Beach you can shop, lunch, beach and walk... mooch up and down the streets of shops and eateries or along the 2 mile seafront promenade 

  • Chill on the beach with a picnic and maybe a cocktail after at Cooden Beach Hotel before picking up fish chips for tea

  • Take in the exhibitions at De La Warr Museum or the history at Bexhill Museum and then have a run around at Egerton Park

HISTORIC TOWNS

BATTLE

Battle has plenty places to grab a bite to eat in cute cafes and tea shops, The Bluebell Tearooms and pubs, The Bull Inn are both always a suggested place to dine... and then pick up some super little finds in the shops and boutiques!

 

Take in the history of this historic town at Battle Museum of Local History and of course visit Battle Abbey itself

RYE

Head to the historic town of Rye with shopping and antiques and Rye Market... the harbour is a nice place to stop at too!

The town itself is in abundance of history you can check out at The Rye Hertiate Centre along with cuteness and eateries for breakfast, lunch and dinner... The Mermaid Inn is always a good choice for those visiting

BODIAM

Small Bodiam is where you find The National Trust's Bodiam Castle with its scenic surroundings, cafe, shop and bookstore is always a great place to venture to for a few hours "OUR PERSONAL FAVOURITE PLACE TO GO A COUPLE TIMES A YEAR!"

 

You must too check out the Northiam-Bodiam-Tenterden Railway here also.. just up the road from The Castle Inn and The Castle itself!

Local Ventures

Excursions and day trips are plenty around us... coffee and cake or a stroll round the shops... plenty of Farm Shops and Villages to meander round and seek the history of the area in such a beautiful part of the world

Where Next?

We have Great Dixter House and Gardens in nearby Northiam and the Northiam-Bodiam-Tenterden Railway is a great stop!

Alexandra Park on the way to Hastings is great place to let off some energy, feed the ducks, grab a snack and have a go on the miniature railway!

 

Whatever the weather and whatever your fancy... you'll find plenty to do and see for an hour or a day!
